It took two years for us to locate a vineyard that we like as much as our Carneros Chardonnay, but we found it with a little help from friends. The 2010 vintage marks the first Lloyd Pinot Noir sourced from a hillside block in the Santa Rita Hills above Santa Barbara. While the drive to check on the vineyard is long, it is worth the effort to make a wine that we love.

The grapes were picked at their peak of ripeness during the night, and transported back to Napa in a refrigerated truck to keep the grapes in perfect condition. The Pinot from this site bursts with ripe red fruits, and we balanced that with nice smoky notes from barrels made by four different coopers.

The Pinot Noir is bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve the essence of this wine. Less than 200 cases were bottled, and we hope to still have some to sell after our family has raided the inventory.
