2022 PRESCRIPTION
Cabernet Sauvignon
North Coast
The 2022 Prescription Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from Urgency Vineyard, farmed by grower Lorenzo Pacini on California's North Coast. Pacini's red iron soils push concentration and depth into the fruit, giving the Cabernet its dark cherry and blackberry character without requiring heavy-handed winemaking to get there.
Rob ages this wine sixteen months in new French oak and retired Lloyd Chardonnay barrels — American oak that spent its first life with the Carneros fruit before moving to the Cab. The result is soft tannins, forward fruit, and a graham cracker finish that stays with you.
Structured, dry, composed.
This is a Cabernet that wins over people who think they don't like Cabernet. Dark plum, black currant, and ripe blackberry on the nose, with cedar and a touch of dark chocolate underneath. On the palate it's velvety and full-bodied, with tannins softened by sixteen months in retired Lloyd Chardonnay barrels. The finish is long and warm, with a graham cracker note that lingers after everything else settles. Soft, supple, and surprisingly easy to finish the bottle.
Grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, or aged cheddar. It'll also hold its own next to dark chocolate.
The 2022 Prescription Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from Urgency Vineyard on California's North Coast, farmed by grower Lorenzo Pacini. Pacini's red iron soils deliver the concentration and mineral depth that define this wine's character. North Coast's warm days build fruit intensity and ripeness while cooler evenings preserve structure and balance. Rob sources from Urgency because the vineyard does the heavy lifting. The winemaking follows what the fruit gives.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Urgency Vineyard, North Coast. Fermented in stainless steel to keep the fruit clean and forward, then aged sixteen months in a combination of new French oak and retired Lloyd Chardonnay barrels, American oak that previously held the Carneros Chardonnay fruit. The French oak adds structure and spice. The retired American oak softens the tannins, brings the fruit forward, and leaves the graham cracker finish Rob was after.
